Every Friday I post my favorite Twitter finds, which may be funny, gorgeous, inspirational, and/or just a bit odd. Today’s edition is heavy on the Olympics! Enjoy!
@murraygold “So a billion people will be watching the opening ceremony live. But not America. Because NBC have a celebrity recipe show.”
[SEO: The fact that NBC (still) is presenting opening ceremony and later winning moments only in tape-delayed prime time (it’s entirely about money) has provided rich fodder for Twitter this week. #NBCFail]
@saradb82 “The Queen skydiving with James Bond, kids singing to the Queen in their pajamas…Britain is defying all the rules! :)”
@SarahEOlson2009 “We’re in the middle of the taped Opening Ceremony and NBC cuts to a taped talk with Ryan Seacrest and Michael Phelps. Really, NBC?”
@LacyMB “Seriously the ‘forging’ of the Olympic rings is insanely beautiful and epic.”
@redostoneage Why did @NBC edit out a moving tribute to terrorism victims during the Opening Ceremony?
[SEO: Here’s video of what the U.S. missed and got Seacrest/Phelps instead. 806,000+ people have given it a thumbs up, and 78,000+ have liked it on Facebook. NBC is despicable. Imagine the BBC blocking out a U.S. tribute to 9/11. It would never happen.]
@pourmecoffee “Olympics on NBC: The History Channel”
@London2012 Check out the best photos from the Opening Ceremony. What a fantastic night!
[SEO: 42 gorgeous pics from start to finish with captions.]
@AndrewPettit “Did anyone else hear Misty May yell, ‘I volunteer as tribute!'”
[SEO: “Hunger Games” meets beach volleyball. ;)]
@pourmecoffee Oooh, nice. Curated, tagged, searchable, super-organized slick NYT Olympics photo page
[SEO: The NY Times continues to add pictures throughout each day of competition. They provide easy one-click searches to find all pics or by: opening ceremony; athletes; countries; or sports. A great archive!]
@HealthyPlace “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” ~ Mary Oliver
@PsychCentral “I failed my way to success.” ~ Thomas Edison
